About the Speakers
Roger Thurow
Roger is a former Wall Street Journal foreign correspondent and a senior fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He is the author of several books focusing on hunger and agricultural development, including Against The Grain: How Farmers Around the Globe Are Transforming Agriculture to Nourish the World and Heal the Planet, The First 1,000 Days: A Crucial Time for Mothers and Children — And the World, and Enough: Why the World’s Poorest Starve in an Age of Plenty. His work has been recognized for shedding light on the challenges faced by farmers and communities in the global food system.
Nora Tobin
Nora is the Executive Director of Self-Help International, an Iowa-based non-profit dedicated to alleviating hunger by helping people help themselves. With more than a decade of experience in international development, she leads the organization to enhance food security in partnership with rural communities in Ghana and Nicaragua. Under her leadership, Self-Help International has expanded its reach and impact through innovative programs and partnerships.
