A teen girl named Priscilla is redefining what it means to be unstoppable in the heart of Beposo, a community nestled in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
At just 15 years old and a junior high school pupil, Priscilla is not only excelling academically but also making waves in athletics, becoming the newest pride of her school and community.
On April 3, 2025, Priscilla represented her school, Beposo D/A Basic School, in an inter-school athletics competition, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination. With each race, she ran not just for medals but for every girl who’s ever been told, “You can’t.” She clinched first place in both the 1500-meter and 3000-meter races and secured second place in the 800-meter race, earning her the title of Best Female Athlete.
Priscilla isn’t just any student—she’s a proud member of the Self-Help International Teen Girls Club. Before joining, she felt uncertain about her future. But through mentorship, life skills training, and encouragement from the club, Priscilla discovered her passion for sports and a new sense of purpose. The club empowers girls like her to dream big, speak up, and pursue their goals by providing education on reproductive health, leadership, and academic support.
In a community where girls often face obstacles to education and personal development, Priscilla stands as a beacon of hope and resilience. From the first sprint to the final lap, she ran with her heart. Her victories are not just a personal triumph—they’re a powerful message to other girls: you are strong, you are capable, and YES, YOU CAN. With her eyes set on future competitions and academic success, Priscilla continues to train diligently, balancing her studies and athletic pursuits.
Through Self-Help International’s Teen Girls Club, girls like Priscilla are learning to push past limits and lead with confidence. With continued support, there’s no telling how far she—and others like her—will go.
Today, she’s a champion on the track. Tomorrow? A leader, a role model, and a force for change. Yes, she can. And yes, she did.
