“I am Dorsah, a mother of three and a rice farmer in Ghana’s Upper West Region. For years, I cultivated rice on a small two-acre plot, but my harvests were always disappointing. Limited inputs meant low yields, and making ends meet was a constant struggle.
Everything changed when I joined Self-Help International’s microcredit program. With access to financial support, I finally had the resources to invest in my farm properly. Before this, I could barely afford enough fertilizer and essential inputs. My harvests were small, and my dream of expanding my farm seemed impossible.
But with my first loan, I was able to buy the right inputs—and the results have been life-changing. My yields doubled last year (2024). For the first time, I can sleep peacefully, knowing I’ll have a bountiful harvest to feed my family and reinvest in my farm.
Thanks to this support, I can now provide for my children and dream of even greater success in the seasons to come.”
