We want to wish Jacqueline Steinkamp, who has worked at Self-Help as Development Director for the past two years, the best of luck as she heads off to Kiel, Germany to the University of Kiel (CAU) to pursue an M.S.c. in Sustainability, Development, & the Environment through the School of Sustainability.

After serving as a communications and policy intern for Self-Help International in Nicaragua in the summer of 2016, Jackie joined Self-Help’s US operations and now serves as the Director of Development. Originally from Warwick, Rhode Island, Jackie moved to Virginia to pursue her education where she received a bachelor’s degree in Government and International Politics & Affairs from George Mason University, with minors in Spanish and Non-Profit Management, and began working toward a Masters in Public Policy at the University of Virginia. Having volunteered at several nonprofits, she enjoys learning about how the public, private, and voluntary sectors can work together to help others through sustainable practices. During her fellowship at the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), she learned her passion was in international development, and further became particularly passionate about empowering women during her time working with Self-Help Nicaragua. When she’s not working, Jackie enjoys giving back locally through the Cedar Valley Rotary Club.
